Nanaimo RCMP are asking for the public’s help in locating a man who exposed himself to a nine-year-old girl. Police said the girl was with her parents and brother as they walked up the spiral staircase near the Javawocky Coffee House on Front Street about 7 p.m. on Aug. 12.

While the mother was tending to the brother, she heard the girl call for her. The girl told her mother a man sitting at the top of the stairs had exposed himself.

The father looked for the man, but he had left.

The man is described as between 50 and 60 years old, 140 to 150 pounds and five-foot-eight with a slight build and short, unkempt brown hair. He was wearing an olive green, button-down shirt with long sleeves and washed-out dark pants.

Police ask anyone with information to call Nanaimo RCMP at 250-754-2345 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
