NEW DELHI: The suspense over Narsingh Yadav’s fate continued on Saturday as the National Anti-Doping Agency’s (Nada) disciplinary panel decided to defer its decision to Monday.Late in the evening, when the decision was likely to be announced, the media was left guessing as the meeting between the panel members went on for almost eight hours. The Nada panel had earlier announced that a decision was likely on Saturday or Monday. With the meeting still under way, dope-tainted Narsingh, his team of lawyers and officials from the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) left the Nada office in a huff, leading to a lot of speculation over what had transpired in the meeting. However, after a long and patient wait, Nada’s director general Navin Agarwal clarified to the media that the panel has not reached any decision yet.”The decision could not be taken today. The panel is going through the documents and records. They are reviewing the arguments and the decision should be announced by 4pm on Monday,” Agarwal said. When asked why there was such a delay in taking a final call, Agarwal said the panel was reviewing the documents with care.”Lots of documents and reports have been presented. Justice will be done and it will take time. As soon as the decision is taken everyone will be informed,” he assured. The 74kg wrestler had tested positive for anabolic substance methandienone in tests conducted on June 25 and July 5. The WFI has already named Parveen Rana as Narsingh’s replacement for Rio Olympics.
