It is said that goddess Parvati had undergone an intense meditation for years to please Lord Shiva so that he marries her. And, as she thought, Lord Shiva was indeed impressed by her prayers and agreed to marry her.

People believe that Uttarakhand is the abode of these two gods. The duo had tied a knot here in Rudraprayag district. There’s an ancient temple here in Triyuginarayan village whose fame is credited to the legend of god Shiva’s marriage to goddess Parvati witnessed by Lord Vishnu at this venue and is thus a popular pilgrimage centre.

What is interesting about this temple is that it still has many things here, which are believed to have a connection with the couple’s marriage.
