A headless body was found at a deserted location inside the Aarey Colony on Thursday. During the probe the Aarey police found out that the body is that of Brandon Gonsalves (22) who had gone missing four days ago.
Police has come to know that a case of missing complaint has been filed at the Dindoshi and the body matched with the missing Gonsalves. Police are trying to get closed-circuit television (CCTV), if any, from nearby his residence to find out if he was last seen with any of his friends or acquaintances. Gonsalves, according to the police, was beheaded by unknown person after went to Aarey Colony for a walk. His head was spotted 20 metres away from his naked body. “A man who was passing from the spot at around 12.30pm spotted Gonsalves body and alerted the police. His identity was established after going through the missing complaints that has been registered across the police stations. The headless body was found 50-metres away from the roadside. The clothes was found few metres away from the dead body,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone XII) Kirankumar Chavan. Gonsalves hailed from a middle-class family and stayed with his mother and sister in a residential building near Oberon Mall in Goregaon (East) while he does not have father. He was pursuing graduation in Arts and was jobless. Investigators suspect the man was murdered after which the accused beheaded him. “There were no identification marks on the body and the head was found at a distance from the body amid thick bushes. The victim’s family has been alerted about the incident,” said the Aarey police. Gonsalves sister Kashma asked to contact later when TOI called late on Thursday. Meanwhile one of his friend Vinit Amin has posted about Gonsavles missing on social media on December 20 at around 8.20pm and his body was spotted two days later. Aarey police has registered a case of murder. The cause of murder is yet to be known. Meanwhile the police will be getting his mobile call records after his mobile is found missing.
