Lenovo and Moto have now confirmed the arrival of the Moto G4 Play in India. According to Moto India’s official Twitter page, the smartphone will be revealed in the country via Amazon India on September 6. Needless to say, the phone will be a retailer exclusive. For those unaware, the Moto G4 Play is nothing but a low-end version of the Moto G4 and the G4 Plus. The hardware specs sheet is nothing to write home about, but that’s to be expected given the anticipated pricing of Rs 9,000 or under.

Strangely, Moto hasn’t revealed the pricing of the handset, although import listings have given us a ballpark figure of what to expect. In terms of hardware, the Moto G4 Play is comparable to most mid-ranged and budget phones available out there. The presence of a 5-inch HD (1280×720) display, however, might prove to be a setback when compared with rival offerings in the same price range.

The Moto G4 Play was announced right after the standard G4 and the G4 Plus in the U.S., but hasn’t seen a launch yet. Perhaps Moto-Lenovo wanted to bring the handset to the Asian markets first.

Moto G4 Play hardware specs include:

5-inch HD (1280×720) display
Quad-core 1.2 GHz Snapdragon 410 processor
8MP rear camera
5MP front camera
16GB storage (expandable via microSD)
Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow
2,800mAh battery
