Mobile internet services restored after 16 days


Mobile internet services across Jammu region were restored after 16 days on Tuesday as state government withdrew its order asking BSNL to suspend GPRS service across the region in view of the continued violence, following the killing of Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani by security forces in the Valley early this month.Sources said that this followed fast improving situation on the Valley and its adjoining districts in the otherwise peaceful Jammu region where people had been observing bandh to express solidarity with agitating people of Kashmir over the death of nearly four dozen youth in retaliatory firing by security forces on stone pelting mobs. The bands called from time to time during the period on Chenab Valley region and border districts of Rajouri and Poonch, however, had been peaceful.Police have booked five people on the charges of sedition for raising pro-Pakistan slogans on Kishtwar. However, no arrest has been made so far.Meanwhile, a security alert was sounded following reports about the sighting of four suspected terrorists at Pandits Charakan in Arnia sector along the International Border in Jammu region. Sources said that Police and security forces have launched massive search operations but no suspect has been sighted so far.
