Quebec provincial police say a shooting in Mascouche, on Montreal’s North Shore, may be linked to organized crime. Spokesperson Sgt. Christine Coulombe said the victim was shot at least once when he arrived at his home on Place de la Brise Monday afternoon.

The 32-year-old man is in critical condition in a Montreal hospital.

Coulombe said “circumstances” surrounding the shooting prompted the Sûreté du Québec to take the lead on the investigation around 8 p.m.

She could not elaborate on what those circumstances were but said the SQ and local police force are collaborating on the case. Police could not say how many suspects they’re looking for at this time.
