A male pedestrian has died after being struck by a vehicle in the city’s west end, Toronto Paramedics have confirmed. It happened on Dynevor Road, near Dufferin Street and Eglinton Avenue, just before 7 a.m.

According to police, a male pedestrian was struck by a truck.

Firefighters were the first to arrive at the scene and performed CPR on the victim before paramedics arrived, but he was pronounced dead on the scene, paramedics said.

The age of the pedestrian was not immediately provided.

Police said the driver of the truck remained on scene and immediately called 911 after the collision.

“We’re working with the coroner to determine what happened after the collision,” Const. Clint Stibbe told CP24 at the scene.

Stibbe said that it appears the vehicle was not moving very quickly at the time of the collision, but that the type of vehicle can make a big difference in certain situations.

“There’s not much obvious damage on the van but we must consider the shape of it… It can have tragic consequences even at a low speed.”

Police said traffic services will investigate the cause of the collision and are appealing to any witnesses who may have seen the incident to contact them.
