A man and a woman are in police custody after a 41-year-old man was stabbed multiple times at a Launceston home and died en route to hospital.
Emergency services were called to a residence at 38 Parua Road in the Launceston suburb of Newnham about 10:15pm on Friday following reports a man had been stabbed.
Police said on arrival they found a man bleeding from several stab wounds.
They said he was stabbed multiple times in the torso in his home and that he had then sought help from a neighbour who called an ambulance.
The police applied first aid until an ambulance arrived but the 41-year-old died en route to Launceston General Hospital.
Police searched for the alleged attacker and arrested a 32-year-old man and a 39-year-old woman at a residence in Lambert Road, Ravenswood, this morning.
They expect to question the pair later today but are still to determine exactly who was present at the time of the stabbing.
Detective Inspector Darren Hopkins urged anyone with information to come forward.
“The investigation is still in its early days, and trying to establish the links and the reason they were there and the relationships is still coming together,” he said. Anyone with relevant information is asked to call Launceston Police, or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
