Man Stabbed with Broken Golf Club Shaft, Suspect in Custody

An 18-year-old male was stabbed with a broken golf club in Wakefield, according to multiple reports. The victim was identified

Wakefield Police announced just before 7 p.m. Tuesday that State Police have a suspect in custody. The victim was taken to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center by MedFlight.

Wakefield Police say that officers responded to the Breakheart Reservation for a report of a fight. Police say that the victim sustained an injury from a golf club as a result of a fight with another man who is known to the victim.

Multiple reports citing State Police indicate that the suspect is 18-year-old Curtis Day of Beverly.

State police announced at 6:08 p.m. that a young adult victim had been transported to the hospital, and an investigation is ongoing. State police reported at 6:29 p.m. that the victim was transported with serious injuries.

State police also report that residents should be assured that the incident does not appear to be a random attack.

“This appears to be an isolated incident between two parties known to each other. There is no danger to the public,” Lt. Steven Skory of the Wakefield Police Department said.
