Detectives are trying to piece together the moments before a man was shot dead on a quiet street in Sydney’s south-west. The 24-year-old was standing on Jasmine Crescent in Cabramatta when he was shot in the head at around 10.45pm last night. The man was killed instantly and his killer is believed to have fled in a dark coloured sedan.
Police say they believe the attack was targeted and that the victim had likely arranged to meet someone in the street around the time he was killed.
Residents reported hearing the shots and the sound of a car’s tyres screeching as it sped away from the street.
“We heard a couple of loud noises, we weren’t sure what it was,” one man told 9NEWS.
“We thought it was fireworks.”
Locals say they are now living in fear.
“It’s lucky our kids weren’t here, they’re going to be too scared to come out now,” resident Stephanie Aoina said.
