A 35-year-old man is dead after being struck by a vehicle that failed to remain at the scene in Vaughan late Monday night, according to York Regional Police.

Officers received a call for a man lying on Highway 7 by a hotel near Creditstone Road just before 11:30 p.m.

The major collision unit is now investigating the fatal crash and police say they don’t yet have a description of the vehicle that left the scene.

A section of Highway 7 was closed overnight for the investigation, but has since reopened.
