A man remains in custody after facing the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court charged with the stabbing murder of a man in the city’s south-east. Shane Ryan Brown, 32, did not apply for bail during the brief hearing this morning.

Emergency crews found the 38-year-old victim with stab wounds at a house on Camms Road at Cranbourne on Friday night.

Police believe the men knew each other.

The name of the victim was removed from the court charge sheet.

The court heard Brown was withdrawing from cannabis and alcohol and needed to see a doctor because he was suffering depression.

He kept his head down and stared at the floor throughout much of the hearing.

The case returns to court on Wednesday.
