The crash happened near to the petrol station north of the roundabout for the A830 at about 5.15pm on Thursday.
Police closed the A82 for hours yesterday while an investigation was carried out.
A Police Scotland spokesman said: “Following an earlier road traffic collision involving a cyclist and a lorry, the A82 at Fort William is now open in both directions. Drivers are thanked for their patience during the closure.
“Very sadly, the male cyclist sustained fatal injuries. Enquiries are continuing and officers would reiterate their appeal for anyone who witnessed the collision or the cyclist on the A82 around 5.15pm this evening to make contact via 101.”
