A Blackfalds man is dead after an off-highway vehicle rollover northwest of Sundre Saturday afternoon, police said in a release. Police were called to a location near Birch Lake at 1:15 p.m.

Two men were in a RZR 800 side-by-side when it rolled down a hill.

Paramedics worked on the driver — a 37-year-old man — for about 45 minutes but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The passenger — a 31-year-old Red Deer man — was airlifted to a Calgary hospital by STARS Air Ambulance in stable condition.

Police say both men were wearing safety helmets and seatbelts.

A Calgary medical examiner is investigating to determine if drugs or alcohol were factors.
