Emergency crews were called to the scene of a vehicle collision on Highway 22 just north of where it intersects with Highway 540 West, M.D. of Foothills at around 5 p.m. Sunday. EMS says a motorcycle and SUV crashed. The SUV had four occupants on board and the motorcycle had two. All were transported to various hospitals.
From the motorcycle, one young child was flown by STARS Air Ambulance to the Alberta Children’s Hospital in serious, potentially life-threatening condition.
A middle-aged male was taken also by ambulance in critical, life-threatening condition to the Oilfields General Hospital for attempted stabilization.
As for occupants in the SUV, two young children were taken to the Oilfields General Hospital by ambulance in stable condition with minor injuries.
Two adults, a man and woman, were also taken to the same hospital in stable condition with minor injuries.
EMS said it’s believed that the two motorcyclists were thrown from their bike and post collision ended up under a travel trailer being pulled by the SUV.
Bystanders were able to pull the two individuals to safety prior to the arrival of emergency services.
EMS is unaware of the relationship between all involved. No word yet on what caused the crash.
