A man has been charged with a string of assault and torture offences after a baby was taken to hospital with several fractures. The seven-week-old baby boy was taken to Biloela hospital on May 24 with a number of injuries including several fractures to his body prompting police to commence an investigation.
On Wednesday, officers from the Gladstone Child Protection and Investigation Unit charged the boy’s father, 22, with six counts of assault occasioning bodily harm and one count each of torture and failing to provide the necessities.
He will face Biloela Magistrate’s Court on July 20.
It is understood the baby is now in the care of the Department of Child Safety.
