A man has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving after an horrific accident in the Barossa Valley which killed an eight-year-old girl.
Emergency crews were called to the head-on accident involving two cars at Stockwell about 4:00pm.
The girl, who was seated in the back of one of the cars, died at the scene.
The male driver of the car was charged and refused police bail to appear in Elizabeth Magistrates Court tomorrow.
A 28-year-old woman and two girls, who were also passengers in the car, were taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the second car, a 29-year-old, and four passengers were treated for minor injuries.
The girl’s death brings the state’s road toll to 66 compared to 72 at the same time last year.
Emergency services have asked motorists to take care on the roads returning home today after the October long weekend.
