RCMP are looking for a 23-year-old man may have drowned this afternoon while swimming at Katepwa Lake Provincial Park. RCMP said officers received a report of a possible drowning at Katepwa Point at about 2:50 p.m. CST on Tuesday.
The man was apparently swimming in the water with friends when he went past a buoy to a point where the water dropped off. Witnesses said he began to struggle and went under.
RCMP said the man’s friends, along with a Good Samaritan, tried to rescue him when he disappeared in the water.
As of 6:30 p.m. CST, the man had not been located.
The RCMP’s Under Water Recovery Team is expected to assist in the investigation tomorrow.
