Toronto Police say they have arrested a 41-year-old man after a woman was beaten and sexually assaulted in the Scarborough Village neighbourhood on Aug. 4. The suspect was arrested Tuesday, police said.
The arrest comes after a 25-year-old woman told police she was approached by a man in the area of Markham and Kingston roads.
She was allegedly taken to a home in the area where she was sexually assaulted and violently beaten.
On Monday, police issued a warrant for the arrest of suspect in the case and released his image to the public.
The next day, a suspect identified as Steve Anthony Levy of Toronto was arrested and charged.
He was charged with two counts of assault causing bodily harm, two counts of sexual assault, forcible confinement, overcome resistance by choking, theft under $5,000 and possession of property obtained by crime.
He was expected to appear in court at 1911 Eglinton Avenue East on Wednesday.
