Surrey RCMP say they have arrested one man following a standoff in a Surrey neighbourhood. Police say they responded to a report of an assault around 10:40 a.m. PT Saturday, Aug. 27, 2016 and that a 27-year-old male suspect had barricaded himself inside a house on Melrose Drive near Grosvenor Road.
Heavily armed officer attended the scene and police say they entered negotiations for the man to surrender.
“The investigation is still in its early stages, but initial indications are that this incident involves parties known to each other,” Staff Sgt. Joe Johal wrote in a release Saturday afternoon.
While police now say they have a man in custody, they would not say if it was the same individual they said had barricaded himself in the house.
Police say they are now holding the house and the traffic situation in the neighbourhood is returning to normal.
