BJP MLA Ramachandra Avasare, who allegedly slapped a policeman for disrupting his party’s Avasare’s Tiranga Yatra rally, on Saturday surrendered at a police station in Tumsar, Maharashtra.
According to an NDTV report, the constable had stopped Avasare’s Tiranga Yatra rally for disrupting the traffic movement which led to a small altercation between one of the drivers and the constable. The constable was later slapped outside the police station after Avasare reached there in the night.
A video of the incident went viral on the internet. This happened just a few days after another minister in Maharashtra slapped a deputy collector during a meeting called by latter at his place. NCP MLA Suresh Lad had attacked Abhay Kalgudkar after an argument between the two over compensation paid to farmers in return of their land.
However, no complaint was filed by the legislator and Lad later denied slapping the official. The incidents of legislators/ministers treating government employees in a poor manner are reported from across the country several times.
