Kyocera has announced its DuraForce Pro rugged smartphone . The sturdy device is resistant to drops, shocks, dust as well as water. The company said that the device will launch in the US in the coming months.

The USP of the Kyocera DuraForce Pro is its built-in action camera. It’s located at the back, along with the 13MP primary camera of the smartphone. The action camera has a 135-degree field of view and is capable of recording Full HD resolution video. It even has its own image processor, in addition to multiple shooting modes.

In terms of specifications, DuraForce Pro has a 5-inch Full HD display of 1080×1920 pixel resolution. Powering the device is a 1.5GHz octa core Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 processor coupled with 2GB of RAM. It also has 32GB of internal storage which can be expanded up to 256GB by installing a microSD card.Kyocera DuraForce Pro comes with a fingerprint sensor and runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system. It has IPX5/IPX8 certification which makes it shockproof, drop-proof, and dustproof. The smartphone is also IP68 certified and complies with Military Standard 810G for protection against dust, shock, vibration, temperature extremes, blowing rain, low pressure, solar radiation, salt fog, humidity, immersion, temperature shock and icing/freezing rain.The handset sports a 13MP rear camera with LED flash and a 5MP front camera for selfies. On the connectivity front, it offers 4G, LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC, Miracast and USB. There’s also a 3,240mAh battery and Quick Charge support.

Kyocera DuraForce Pro can be used while wearing gloves and also when the touchscreen is wet. The phone comes with 2-year manufacturer’s warranty.
