Javid Ahmad Dar, a resident of Warwan village in central Kashmir’s Budgam district, died at the Sheri Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences. Dar was hit by a bullet in his leg during protests at Narbal on August 5.
Meanwhile, more than 180 people were injured in fresh clashes between security forces and protesters across the Valley. Around 120 people were injured in Karimabad village of south Kashmir’s Pulwama, where people were protesting against night operations and arrests by the police and paramilitary forces.“We received 116 injured people at the hospital,” said a senior official of Health department in Pulwama. “They were either hit by pellets or were assaulted. We referred 18 critically injured people to Srinagar.”
Several people were also injured at Zamalgam village in Anantnag district when security forces fired teargas shells and pellets to disperse a gathering. In Budgam district, more than two dozen protesters were injured when police and paramilitary forces foiled a rally at Rathsuna village.
The government said, “Stray stone pelting incidents were reported from Sopore, Pulwama and Budgam.”
