Amid speculations of his joining the Akali Dal to contest the Assembly elections from Chamkaur Sahib, SSP (rural) Jalandhar Harmohan Singh Sandhu today submitted his resignation to the authorities concerned.DIG Jalandhar Range Rajinder Singh Dirbanga said: “Sandhu has given a three-month resignation notice as per the norm”. His charge has been vested with SSP Kapurthala Rajinder Singh for the time being.The son of former minister and four-time MLA Satwant Kaur, Harmohan Singh is likely to be pitted against CLP Leader Charanjit Singh Channi, if the latter contests from the same seat. His sister-in-law Jagmeet Kaur Sandhu, who joined as RTS Commissioner two weeks ago, had unsuccessfully contested from Chamkaur Sahib in 2012.Even as the police and political circles are abuzz with the news since he has 12 years of service left. The SSP, who is on leave, has so far been denying the report, claiming that he wanted his 76-year-old mother to contest from Chamkaur Sahib. He could not be contacted today. There are also are reports that he might be trying to get SAD ticket from Bassi Pathana.
