Kolkata Knight Riders vs Rising Pune Supergiants:

WICKET: After 16.2 overs: Rising Pune Supergiants 102 for 6: Perera hits a six on the first ball of Chawla’s over and wants to for the same on the second ball as well, but this time he gets elevation and Manish Pandey catches him at long-off. Perera scores 13 off 11 runs.

WICKET: After 13.5 overs: Rising Pune Supergiants 87 for 5: Huge confusion ends up with Irfan losing his wicket. Dhoni is furious and is giving Irfan a mouthful. Dhoni pushes it to the point and wants to take a single. He goes halfway to the pitch, but Pathan is late to respond. He has no option but to leave crease in order to save the captain.

After 13 overs: Rising Pune Supergiants 84 for 4: It’s time for strategic time-out. MS Dhoni and Irfan Pathan, who are at crease, need to play sensible innings if they want to take their team to a respectable position.

WICKET: After 10.3 overs: Rising Pune Supergiants 74 for 4: Kolkata take a big wicket as they dismiss dangerous-looking Bailey. Piyush Chawla’s leg spin tempts Bailey to go for a big one. He comes down the track, but the the ball has too much spin and the Pune batsman is beaten. Behind the stumps Uthappa completes the job with ease. WICKET: After 9.4 overs: Rising Pune Supergiants 67 for 3: Bailey and Tiwary were helping Pune stage a slow and steady recovery but before they could pose a serious threat, Ankit Rajput removes Tiwary. A beautiful outswinger takes the thin outside edge and wicketkeeper Robin Uthappa takes the catch.

WICKET: After 4.3 overs: Rising Pune Supergiants 26 for 2: Usman Khawaja was looking dangerous and Shakib Al Hasan removes him quite early. The left-handed batsman goes for a slog sweep and it looks the ball will go for a six, but Khawaja is caught by Suryakumar Yadav, inches ahead of ropes. Khawaja scores 21 runs off 17 balls with three boundaries.

WICKET: After 2.4 overs: Rising Pune Supergiants 19 for 1: Andre Russell takes the pricey wicket of Ajinkya Rahane, who has the capability of playing big innings. A back of a length delivery and Rahane chops it on to stumps. Rahane scores just two runs off six balls.

Out of contention for a play-off berth, a brazen Rising Pune Supergiants will stand in the way of Kolkata Knight Riders’ revival.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s side is the first team to make an exit in the ninth edition after they lost to Sunrisers Hyderabad in their previous match but left with three matches, the Supergiants will be keen to sign off on a high.

The Pune franchise is owned by a Kolkata businessman and they will make themselves feel at ‘home’ while a rejuvenated Knight Riders, back after a five-day break, will be desperate to arrest their slide.

From occupying the pole position midway into the season, KKR’s slide begun after their loss to Gujarat Lions and they have slipped to fourth place and are now in the danger of slipping out of top four.
