The Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) has identified dengue-causing mosquitoes Aedes Aegypti in 793 houses under ward number 1, 2 and 8 during the survey conducted from Sunday to Tuesday.
The officials also found nearly 270 people suffering from general fever during the survey. However, none of them suffered from dengue, the officials said.

While the mosquitoes were found in 543 houses out of 4,238 houses surveyed in ward number 1 and 2 by 285 nursing students and 100 GVMC staff on Tuesday, the mosquitoes were found from 250 houses in ward number 8. Around 3,000 houses were inspected in MVP Colony on Sunday.
Confirming this to TOI, GVMC in-charge chief medical officer GVVS Murthy said the study was being conducted in the wake of increasing number of dengue fever cases in the city. The survey would be conducted in 20 select wards identified by the corporation.
He said dengue mosquitoes were found in refrigerator’s drip box, ornamental plants, money plants, traditional wet grinders, tyres and other sources in the houses. The students conducting the survey inspected the entire house with the permission from the residents. They advised residents about the importance of keeping their houses free from such dengue mosquitoes.
Murthy said they would conduct the survey in areas like Akkayyapalem, Old Town, 104 on Wednesday
