Horse riders to carry message from one Akal Takht to other two Takhts.Youth motorcycle rallies from all 117 constituencies to the three Takhts and a horse riders carrying the religious message from Akal Takht are among the activities being mulled over by Shiromani Akali Dal to celebrate 350th birth anniversary of Guru Gobind Singh in January.
The initiatives were discussed at a meeting chaired by Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Badal on Monday with senior leaders of Akali Dal entrusted with preparing the blueprint for the celebrations for which government has announced to earmark at least Rs 100 croreThe timing of the celebrations is very crucial for SAD which would go to 2017 assembly polls battling 10 years of anti-incumbency.The proposals to be considered for celebrations by Punjab government were also discussed on Tuesday during a meeting of Sukhbir Badal with Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) members who were affiliated to the Shiromani Akali Dal.
Besides the proposal of motorcycle rallies from assembly constituencies by Youth Akali Dal activists and the horse riders going to other two Takhts in Punjab from Akal Takht, the other proposals included exploring possibility of cycle rally from Anandpur Sahib to Patna Sahib, the birth place of Guru Gobind Singh, an Akali leader who attended Tuesday’s meeting with Sukhbir Badal told.
Shiromani Akali Dal leadership is also likely to meet Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu and Civil Aviation Minister Ashok Gajapathi Raju to seek special trains and flights for Patna Sahib to enable devotees from Punjab to reach Patna Sahib to participate in the celebrations at Guru’s birth place.
“SGPC has also requested Punjab government to take up the matter with Railway and Civil Aviation ministers for special trains and flights,” said an SGPC executive committee member.
