Two days after Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced an inquiry in the source of money of government officials who are accused of purchasing large tracts of land adjacent to the proposed Mumbai-Nagpur Super-communication Expressway, he said the government will not let down farmers who are giving their land for the project.
Speaking at the State Assembly, Mr. Fadnavis said, “This road is a highway of Vidarbha’s development. It will give direct port connectivity to areas of Marathwada and Vidarbha. The produce from this region will reach the port within 12 hours because of this road,” he said. December 13, had reported how the Chief Minister’s Office had received a complaint from Shetkari Sangharsh Samiti (SSS) along with land documents detailing names of government officials who have purchased around 700 acres of land parcels near the proposed expressway and planned townships adjacent to it.
