Gangster Dilbagh Singh, alias Lambu (30), was allegedly shot dead by a rival gang near Pandori Gola village in Tarn Taran late last night. His accomplice Akul Khatri of Mehta village was rushed to a private hospital in Amritsar with bullet injuries in the head and abdomen.Dilbagh Singh, who hailed from Patti, was residing at Jogewal village in Jandiala Guru. He was out on bail in a murder case.Senior police officials, including DIG (Border range) AK Mittal, inspected the crime site. Sources said about 100 shots were fired, creating panic in the area.Mittal said Dilbagh and Akul belonged to the notorious Jaggu Bhagwanpuria gang. “Dilbagh was kidnapped by a rival gang headed by Davinder Singh, alias Shooter, of Moga. His hands tied, he was bundled into an SUV (CH-01-AV-1111). When the Jaggu gang learnt about the kidnapping, they chased the SUV. As they opened fire, Davinder and his accomplices shot Dilbagh and Akhul. Dilbagh’s body was thrown out of the vehicle.While the Davinder gang was fleeing, the SUV got stuck in the slush, following which the Jaggu gang opened fire at them. Davinder and his accomplices retaliated. Davinder escaped on a stolen motorcycle. Dilbagh’s wife told the police that her husband was forcibly taken away from their house in Jandiala two days ago. A case has been registered.
