Former Akali Dal Chief Parliamentary Secretary Avinash Chander will be switching over to the Congress.
Avinash Chander, who resigned as Phillaur MLA as also from the Akali Dal after being denied ticket, will be joining the Congress on November 29 in Chandigarh in the presence of Punjab Congress president Capt Amarinder Singh.
The development assumes significance since there has been a revolt in the Akali D al over the ticket distribution in Doaba.
Avinash told to media that he would be joining the Congress and not the BSP. “Talks with the Congress have materialised and I will join the party on November 29.” Former Akali Minister Sarwan Singh Phillaur has already joined the Congress, while Jalandhar Cantt
MLA Pargat Singh has announced to join the party on November 28.
