Berkeley County deputies arrested the fifth suspect they say is connected to a Huger home invasion that left a 27-year-old man dead. According to the sheriff’s office, detectives charges 18-year-old Darius Hamilton, of St. Stephen, with murder, attempted murder, weapons possession, first-degree burglary, and two counts each of armed robbery and kidnapping for his alleged part in the July 21 home invasion on Martha Lane.

Officials say his bond hearing was set for 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, but his paperwork was not ready to go through Wednesday evening.

“We are extremely pleased to have the fifth suspect in custody in this case. The help from the community has been significant and it is greatly appreciated. I am proud of the hard work our detectives have put forward in this case. The assistance from both SLED, the Department of Natural Resources and the United States Marshal’s Service has been invaluable,” Sheriff Duane Lewis said.

Last week, deputies took Sherrod Deon Palmer into custody after he was found by Marshals in Virginia.

Deputies also have in custody 17-year-old Jacob Mouzon, 18-year-old Drake Campbell and 26-year-old Kenneth Campbell Jr. Each one is charged with murder.

If anyone knows anything about this or any other crime, they are asked to call Crime Stoppers at 554-1111.
