Timothee Leon Laurent Rousselle, 21, is accused of punching the paramedic in the face and dragging her out the side of the ambulance outside a Cairns backpackers early on Wednesday morning.

Security camera vision obtained by 9NEWS shows two paramedics, a man and a female, retreating to their ambulance after attempting to treat the 21-year-old.

He allegedly attempts to fight the male paramedic, before reaching into the ambulance and assaulting the woman.

“I’m very, very angry about what’s happened to our paramedic,” Queensland Ambulance spokeswoman Michelle Baxter told 9NEWS.

“They don’t deserve this in the work place and it really does need to stop.”

Rousselle was charged with seriously assaulting a public officer and was granted bail in Cairns Magistrates Court today. He’s expected to reappear in court on October 20.
