The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) yesterday arrested seven accused from the premises of US Embassy in Islamabad who had applied for the US visas on the basis of fake documents.
The FIA has also arrested a travelling agent who had been allegedly found preparing fake documents for these applicants.
All the accused were arrested on the complaint of the US Embassy, FIA sources said.
An officer of FIA Zone Islamabad confirmed that agency had arrested seven accused that were making efforts to get US visas on the basis of fake documents.
All had submitted fake papers along with their passports in the embassy for getting visas, he said adding that a case had been registered against all the accused and they had been shifted to Anti-Human trafficking Cell (AHTC) for further investigations.
The FIA sources said that the accused were arrested in the premises of US Embassy on a complaint of visa section of the embassy that the documents of some applicants had been found fake.
The visa section had called these applicants for visa interviews from where FIA took them into its custody.
The accused including Tahir, Kamran Zaman, Ammar Tabassum, Shoaib and Khaqan belonged to Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) while the accused Abdul Manan hailed from Rawalpindi and Abrar from district Narowal of Punjab.
The FIA has also arrested travelling agent Zubair who had allegedly taken heavy money from the accused to prepare their fake documents.
