AFTER a week of bondage-inspired, boundary-pushing designs, Oscar de la Renta closed Fashion Week in a much more classic fashion last night.

The international fashion house offered up a multi-hued assortment of chic cocktail dresses and sophisticated gowns to wrap up the six-day event, which for the first time focused on Resort collections.

The whips, handcuffs and rebellious designs seen throughout the week hinted at a very interesting summer fashion season, with colour reappearing on the runways after a brief hiatus.

Australian beauty Shanina Shaik led the de la Renta model pack, first arriving on the red carpet in a deep red strapless cocktail dress.

The classic styles by the label’s creative director Peter Copping were a hit among the fatigued fashion crowd, but it was the finale — a model in a frothy white wedding gown flanked by two flower girls — which proved the perfect way to wrap up a week of sartorial spectacles.
