Farm labourers seek release of 6 activists


Demanding release of their six activists, farm labourers under the banner of the Punjab Khet Mazdoor Union today held a protest at the grain market in Malout town. They had announced to gherao the residence of Malout MLA Harpreet Singh. However, the police foiled their attempt.Lachman Singh Sewewala, state general secretary of the union, alleged that the state government had announced to give 41 plots to farm labourers in Dabra village in 2001 and when they demanded the plots recently, six of their activists were sent to the jail after slapping a “false” case against them. — TNS
