Facebook Inc is developing a stand-alone camera app, similar to disappearing photo app Snapchat, to increase user engagement, the Wall Street Journal reported, citing people familiar with the matter.

The app, being developed byFacebook’s “friend-sharing” team in London, is in its early stages and may never come to fruition, according to the report.

The company is also planning a feature that allows a user to record video through the app to begin live streaming, the newspaper reported.

At it annual software conference F8, held recently, Facebook launched its ‘Bot Platform’ for Messenger. The ‘chatbots’ aim to provide Facebook users an entirely new way to interact with businesses. Users will no longer have to fill long forms or click on check-boxes, they can simply message a company via these chatbots.

With this, Facebook has joined the growing list of companies working on artificial intelligence to let businesses talk to customers.
