Acting on the complaint of a woman of Kotbhai village, the police today booked a former soldier from Fakkarsar village for allegedly being involved in a job scam of Rs 10 lakh and abducting her husband. An unidentified person too has been booked in this regard.In her statement to the media on October 6, the complainant Sunderjeet Kaur, wife of Kulbir Singh ‘Tinu’, had alleged, “Jagsir Singh, former OSD to Deputy CM Sukhbir Singh Badal, and Avtar Singh, Jagsir’s aide from Fakkarsar village and a former soldier, had taken Rs 10 lakh from us about 1.5 years ago offering the job of clerk to my husband, who is working on ad-hoc basis, and four others in the Forest Department. “But they did not provide a job to anyone. On October 4, my husband told me that we will get our money back and left home. But he did not return.”Jagsir is the son of SGPC member Gurpal Singh ‘Gora’. Gora is said to be among the frontrunners for the post of senior vice-president of the SGPC.Both Avtar and Jagsir had refuted the allegations on the same day when the complaint was filed.Gurpreet Singh Gill, SSP, Muktsar, said, “The woman had lodged a complaint against Avtar Singh and the case has been registered. She has not named anyone else.”
