Essex County police arrested six alleged drunk drivers over the weekend, according to a news release from the OPP. Four arrests were made by Leamington OPP, while two others were made in Lakeshore and Kingsville.
“The OPP is disappointed in the continuing number of drinking and driving occurrences on Essex County roadways and will continue to aggressively enforce these offences,” said Insp. Glenn Miller of the Essex County OPP.
One arrest on Friday was made after the driver of a black Jeep failed to stop at the intersection of Highway 3 and Morse Road, and struck a black Audi around 9:20 p.m.
Just more than an hour later, police received reports about a driver of a grey Dodge swerving on Erie Street. Officers found the driver parked outside an A&W restaurant.
“These criminal actions by drivers continue to threaten the safety of all citizens and you need to ask yourself why you would want to make a decision that will negatively impact you and others for the rest of your life,” Miller said.
