England win bragging rights in Ashes of Kabaddi

It was supposed to be the Ashes of Kabaddi. Instead, it turned out to be a one-sided saga.

England were all over the Australians on the fourth day of the Kabaddi World Cup here on Monday, thrashing them 69-25.Both the sides had faced heavy defeats in their inaugural game and were looking to get on board in the points table.

The Aussies started the raid, putting Thomas Sharp in front to open their challenge. An empty raid to begin with was followed by England captain Someshwar Kalia having a successful one to add an early point to England’s tally.

The streak of unsuccessful raids continued to flow for the Australians. On the other hand, England’s Keshav Gupta and Tope Adewalure looked to capitalise and ride on the momentum that was swinging towards the Englishmen.

Kalia tactically put in Kehav and Tope consistently, preferring to watch them execute the raids successfully. For Australia, substitute Adam Schneider clinched the maximum nine points to add some respectability to his team’s scoreline. The Australians were all-out a total of 10 times.
