In his complaint, Khaira, alleged company employees were visiting households, asking them of their voting preferences and their phone numbersAAP leader Sukhpal Singh Khaira on Tuesday complained to the Election Commission of India against MLA from Bholath Bibi Jagir Kaur for allegedly putting pressure on voters following collection of data by a surveying company.
In his complaint, Khaira, alleged company employees were visiting households, asking them of their voting preferences and their phone numbers.
“It appears that the said company has passed on data to ruling party leaders. I have received complaints that voters are now being put under pressure by the local MLA and her team of Sarpanches and Jathedars. They are being questioned as to why they were opting to vote for the AAP in the ensuing elections. The voters are being threatened, intimidated and coerced to make a commitment to vote for the ruling SAD-BJP combine in 2017 polls,” he said.“Normally such companies survey a small percentage sample size of the voters in a constituency. But in this case, they visited every household in my constituency,” he added. “I apprehend that the said company is conducting such an intensive survey at the behest of Sukhbir Singh Badal, so that they can influence the voters in their favour.’
