An elderly man has been murdered in a knife attack on a Glasgow street. Detectives launched a murder inquiry following the incident in Bridgeton at 12.25am on Wednesday.
The man, who has not been identified, was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary but died a short time later from stab wounds.
Officers cordoned off several roads around Abercromby Street while they carried out investigations and an officer was stationed outside house in nearby Green Street on Wednesday morning.
Forensic officers were also on the scene scouring the area and taking pictures for evidence. They examined a council refuse truck in the street.
A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: “At around 12.25am an elderly man was stabbed on Abercromby Street, near Stevenson Street, in Bridgeton, Glasgow.
“He was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary and died a short time later. We have launched a murder investigation and enquiries are continuing.”
As a result of the police cordon, Bridgeton Health Centre was closed meaning people are having to sign in and have appointments rearranged.
