Doctors’ strike today

The Punjab Civil Medical Services (PCMS) Association, a government doctors’ body, has given a call for a statewide protest from tomorrow against various decisions of the government.
The protests are scheduled to take place between 8 am and 10 am in all districts. Dr Gagandeep Singh, president of the association, said there would be no work in hospitals for two hours except emergency services. The doctors are demanding full pay to new doctors, who are being paid basic pay of Rs 15,600 for the first two years, besides restoration of the Non-Practising Allowance to postgraduate in-service doctors.
