“GOMP (Government of Madhya Pradesh) and GOI (Government of India) includes my name, my brother’s name, my son’s name in BPL! We all are income tax payees,” Singh tweeted today morning before heading for Goa where he is scheduled to attend the coordination committee meeting of the local Congress unit.
The 69-year-old politician tweeted “we have neither applied nor taken any benefit under BPL. This is conspiracy against me and my family.”
“Those responsible should apologise and should be punished,” Singh further tweeted.
Taking a jibe at the Congress general secretary, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday said the ‘mentally poor’ former chief minister can only answer as to how his name came up in the list.“It’s a question for Digvijaya Singh…he should reply as to how come he is a poor. He can be seen as mentally poor. He can say it on what basis he is poor and on which basis did he apply and how the card was made and on what basis he wants to take advantage of the card,” BJP leader Rameshwar Sharma said.
Sharma said that if a person is poor, irrespective of whichever party he belongs to, his BPL card should be made.
“If Digvijaya Singh is poor, he must have applied for a card and the officials must have probed. If he is not poor, Digvijaya Singh will object to it. If he objects, then he should take action against the official who made it,” he added.
Responding to a poser that Singh is calling it a ‘conspiracy’, Sharma said the BJP doesn’t need to insult him by doing this as he is already defamed.
“We don’t require any additional effort to do so. A person, who is already defamed, cannot be defamed futher,” he added.
