Dengue outbreak is at its peak during the end of monsoon and has shown maximum incidence from September to November. The viral infection sees a spike post-monsoon, with October being the worst month for this mosquito-borne tropical disease, an analysis of data by a global information and technology services company shows.
The fastest-growing mosquito-transmitted disease in the world, dengue causes around 400 million infections every year, according to World Health Organisation. Dr Khusrav Bajan, consultant physician at PD Hinduja Hospital, said the spike in dengue cases is post-monsoon.
