Dear Zindagi is being appreciated for its novelty by the audience. Many films fail to do what Dear Zindagi did so cleverly and that is adding the stardom of Shah Rukh Khan to a coming-of-age movie. The film, which is co-produced by Gauri Khan, Karan Johar and SRK, collected Rs 8.75 crore on Friday. The film is expected to do well during this weekend.
The popularity of Shah Rukh Khan is clearly visible on overseas box office collection of the film. Dear Zindagi, which has a midweek release in North America ( USA and Canada) collected Rs 17.82 lakh and Rs 2.69 crore in Canada and the USA respectively. Dear Zindagi has managed to mint a robust Rs 2.87 crore in North America. The film has also fared well as compared to Gauri Shinde’s English Vinglish while it is the fifth biggest opener for Alia Bhatt.
Dear Zindagi is a comparatively low-budget film with its total cost coming to Rs 22 crore and about Rs 10 crore being spent on promotions. The film has so far collected Rs 21 crore approx worldwide with UAE/GCC collections of two days coming to a substantial Rs 5.40 crore.
Trade Analyst Taran Adarsh shared, ” #DearZindagi has a STRONG start… Hi-end plexes of major centres contribute maximum… Fri ₹ 8.75 cr [1200 screens]. India biz.” Taran also wrote, “#DearZindagi, which had a midweek release in North America [USA + Canada], has grossed $ 419,208 [₹ 2.87 cr] in 2 days… Details follow…”
Dear Zindagi also had a midweek release in UAE, collecting Rs 1.19 crore. Taran shared, “#DearZindagi had a midweek release in the USA [Thanksgiving Weekend]… Collected an IMPRESSIVE $ 172,571 [₹ 1.19 cr] on Wednesday. @Rentrak.”
The audience has praised the performance of Alia Bhatt who portrays Kaira- an independent woman. Kaira’s endeavour to find stability in her relationships is endearing. Most young women could relate to the character of Kiara. This is the second stellar performance by Alia after garnering rave reviews for Udta Punjab. Shah Rukh Khan has earlier said that he is playing an extended cameo in Dear Zindagi.
