To commemorate the World Asthma Day, CT Group of Institutions organised the Expert talk on “Awareness about Asthma” by Dr. Naresh Bathla (Chest Physician) from Civil Hospital, Jalandhar. The seminar was held at CT Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (CTIPS), Shahpur Campus.
Dr. Naresh Bathla (Chest Physician from Civil Hospital, Jalandhar) said that the Asthma is a chronic disease that affects large population worldwide and it’s increasing every year as shown by statistics. According to World Health Organisation (WHO) almost 100 to 150 million people are affected by this disease every year. He said, “It requires long-term treatment. Many patients once they feel better, they stop taking inhalers for therapy. This can be dangerous since discontinuing treatment means stopping the treatment which is must to keep them fit and healthy. Patients should consult their doctor on each and everything to avoid self medication which may prove to be dangerous.
Mr. Ajay Gautam, Regional Head from Cipla Respiratory division and his team demonstrated the use of drug dispensing devices and checked the Lung function test of faculty and staff members of CT Group of Institutions.
Dr. P.S. Bedi (Director Campus, CT Group of Institutions) said that experts say that it can be cured or controlled through a process of thorough inhalation therapy. Our moral responsibility is to spread awareness about the disease and its prevention to the society. Due to lack of patience, patients tend to discontinue the medication once the symptoms are subsided.
S. Charanjit Singh Channi (Chairman, CT Group of Institutions) expressed his gratitude towards the teams of Civil Hospital, Jalandhar, Cipla Respiratory division and CTIPS for organizing this constructive and valuable seminar.
The occasion was concluded with the vote of thanks of Dr. Rajeev Kharb (Principal CTIPS).
