Police are searching for a man after a six-month-old boy died in Melbourne’s north on Sunday. Emergency services were called to a home in Isla Avenue in Glenroy at about 8.40am.

The baby boy was found unresponsive by paramedics. He was taken to hospital but later died. Homicide Squad detectives wish to speak to 33-year-old Dwayne Lindsey, who police say may be able to assist investigators with their inquiries.

He is urged to hand himself in.

Police have not revealed the nature of the boy’s injuries but say Mr Lindsey is known to them.

Support is being provided to the boy’s mother.

“She’s – as you’d expect – devastated by what’s occurred,” Detective Senior Sergeant Shane O’Connell told reporters.

“It’s a very tragic set of circumstances and we’re assisting her with the support that we can.”

Mr Lindsey is described as having an olive complexion, and dark hair with a medium build.

Anyone with information on Mr Lindsey’s whereabouts is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
