Police are expanding their search for a missing senior with several medical issues in Scarborough. Jayaratnam Punnusamy, 84, went missing on May 22. He was last spotted in the Midland and Lawrence avenues area at around 5:30 a.m. that day.

According to police, Punnusamyhas a range of health issues that make him vulnerable, including the onset of dementia, high blood pressure and diabetes.

Police set up a command post Tuesday in a hydro field on the west side of Midland Avenue, north of Romulus Drive to search for the missing man.

Punnusamyis described as standing five-foot-five, weighing around 185 pounds, with a heavy build, grey receding hair, and a goatee. He was last seen wearing grey track pants, a blue fleece jacket, and a white sweater.

Police say he walks with a distinctive shuffle and has hip and knee problems that require him to rest frequently.

Police are asking homeowners to check their properties, including backyards, sheds and garages.
