POLICE have raided properties linked to the five Victorian men charged with trying to get out of Australia to fight for the Islamic State. The Victorian Joint Counter Terrorism Team today executed warrants at properties in the northern and northwestern suburbs of Melbourne, Victoria Police said.
Five men, Robert Cerantonio, Shayden Thorne, Kadir Kaya, Antonio Granata and Paul Dacre were arrested north of Cairns last week.
They allegedly planned to sail from Cape York to Indonesia then make their way to the Middle East to fight for IS.
The raids today included properties in Footscray West, Broadmeadows and Cairnlea.
At a home in Footscray West, Victoria Police and AFP officers in plain clothes appeared to focus on a garden shed.
